FAQs – Heat Pumps
How does an Air to Water heat pump work?
It extracts heat energy from the outside air and converts it into heating and hot water for your home.
Do I need insulation upgrades first?
If your home was built before 2007 and or you do not have a valid BER SEAI requires a technical assessment to confirm if your home is insulated enough to benefit from a heat pump.
However, if you’re going through the National Home Energy Upgrade Scheme (One Stop Shop), SEAI has removed the Heat Loss Indicator (HLI) threshold requirement, so a heat pump can now be installed without needing to hit that fabric target first. We’ll advise which route, and which requirements, apply to your project.
What grants are available?
Up to €12,500 is available through the SEAI Heat Pump Grant
How much can I save?
Most households save 30–50% on heating bills after installation.
How long does installation take?
Typically 3–5 days, depending on property size and heating system requirements.
